NEED TO WRITE THIS!!! Randi Thomas new IIDA Director of Boise City Center

CTA interior designer Randi Thomas is six months into a two-year term serving as Director of Boise City Center for the International Interior Design Association’s (IIDA) Northern Pacific Chapter. Before that, she served as director-elect for a year, and communications/graphics coordinator. As the one-quarter mark of her tenure arrives, she is optimistic about the

IIDA National Mission:

The vision and mission of the International Interior Design Association stands for the Future of Design.

IIDA, with respect for past accomplishments of Interior Design leaders, strives to create a strong niche for the most talented and visionary Interior Design professionals, to elevate the profession to the level it warrants, and to lead the way for the next generation of Interior Design innovators. The Association provides a forum to demonstrate design professionals’ impact on the health, safety, well being and virtual soul of the public, balancing passion for good design and strategy for best business practices. IIDA stands at the intersection of passion and strategy where designers create extraordinary interiors and experiences.

IIDA NPC Mission:

The IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter seeks to uphold the highest standards for the professional practice of Interior Design in the states of Washington, Idaho, and Alaska, as well as British Columbia and Alberta. With a primary focus on Education, Advocacy and Outreach, the chapter supports designers at all stages of their careers through scholarships, personal enrichment opportunities, and connections to both the local and global design community.

IIDA Boise Mission:

All of the things above – in summary bringing in national and chapter level programs and resources to build a strong, professional Interior Design community in Boise.

My goals:  to grow the Boise City Center and thus bolster the programs we can provide to local designers, and to provide a connection to the outside design world and get designers inspired.

2 year term, July 2015-June 2017

On a side note:  IIDA organizes chapters into larger geographical groupings (see above), and each chapter has multiple city centers within it that focus into smaller regions.  My job as City Center Director is to be in charge of all things IIDA that happen locally.  This includes CEU’s, social events, etc.  We do have a small group of local designers who volunteer to help accomplish all these things in the city center.  Our other established city centers are Seattle and Inland Northwest (Spokane/CDA/Moscow). There is an overarching chapter board, of which I am also a member as director.  While primarily based in Seattle, the chapter board does include members from the other two city centers.

On another side note:  NPC won Large Chapter of the Year in 2014, which is a pretty big deal, because that’s the best of everything for all of IIDA nationally and internationally.  That same year I received the “Recognition Award” from the chapter.  It basically equates to outstanding volunteerism.
