With 75+ years of experience on more than 260 education projects, CTA stands apart in college, university, and school district facility design. We deliver comprehensive facility assessments and educational master plans that lead to energy-efficient, functional, and timeless design solutions. CTA’s proven strategy in both fundraising, and grant and bond issue assistance, aids with developing clear and resonant communication between all involved parties. We work diligently to assemble realistic cost information for fundraising campaigns and bond presentations. Districts gain the necessary expertise in order to successfully validate key community groups’ objectives, build support, and ultimately, obtain funding.
Great educational design starts with knowing what challenges educators are facing, and how students learn most effectively. Rapid advancements are occurring in technology and best learning practices, but CTA’s educational design specialists remain on the leading edge of their field through continuing education, breadth of experience, and a passion for their subject material. CTA is focused on finding the most creative, innovative, energy efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for your facilities and campuses. We are experts on the intricate relationships between built and natural environments; this encourages healthier students and faculty, and the realization of long-term operational cost savings.
CTA stands apart in educational programming, comprehensive master planning, and innovative, flexible educational design.

JIM BEAL | AIA, LEED AP BD+C
As a principal and Director of Design, Jim leads CTA’s approach to integrated design. He guides integrated teams — including designers, owner, contractor, and other stakeholders — through a collaborative process characterized by holistic decision-making. He does not promote a particular architectural style but allows each design solution to grow naturally out of its conditions and to derive meaning from its place. Jim believes sustainable, synergistic strategies created from the artful integration of all design disciplines, are the foundation for exceptional design. His process is characterized by an essential idea or vision that guides the project team and his work strives to be timeless, use regional materials appropriately, be sensitive to context, and create buildings that are narratives for their place and function.
