Missoula parks project highlights expansion of CTA’s survey team

CTA’s Site Group in Missoula, MT, was selected to provide landscape architecture services for the design and renovation of 10 playgrounds, with the potential for many more as additional funding is secured. The playground project, which got underway recently, is part of a $42 million parks and trails bond Missoula voters passed in November 2014. CTA’s team consists of Ezra Williams, project manager; Wayne Freeman, principal-in-charge; Meghan McMahon, LAIT; and Evan Vernon, LSI.

Vernon’s involvement in the project marks the expansion of CTA’s Survey Group. Though the team has previously been available to cover all domestic CTA projects, until recently, all firm survey operations were based out of CTA’s office in Livingston, MT. In an effort to provide better client service, the Missoula office has been outfitted to provide surveying services as well. Vernon will be busy surveying in Missoula and throughout western Montana this summer. He’ll also be taking his licensure exam in October.

CTA’s Survey Group was established in 2007 and has supported nearly every discipline within the firm, providing topography and site surveys, American land title surveys (ALTAs), subdivision plats, construction staking, and more. The group has state-of-the-art global positioning systems (GPS) and robotic total stations, enabling them to operate in any condition. CTA surveyors are licensed in all northwestern states; the team includes George Bornemann, a Certified Federal Surveyor (CFedS), and Craig Kamps, PLS.
