Cabin of Contrasts – Jackson, WY
This addition project converted an existing 830 sq. ft. log cabin from the main residence for a family of four (and their dog) into the bedroom/family room wing of a larger residence by adding new public spaces, master suite, and garage. The project is a study in contrasts. The cabin is cozy and inherently dark as are most. Its detailing and aesthetic are traditional and Western. The contemporary forms, minimalist detailing, open plan, and bright interiors of the addition purposely contrast the cabin while still achieving a measure of warmth. Amenities include a rooftop deck with additional structure for a future hot tub and geothermally-heated concrete floors.
