CTA is the designer of record for the Medical Education Training Campus (METC), a facility responsible for providing training to all branches of the U.S. military and the single largest medical training campus in the United States. The Headquarters Building spans 25,733 sq. ft. over two floors and houses the Command Staff and campus academic leadership including the Dean of Academics and Director of Administration.

In addition to the office building, the project included related site work, demolition of an existing gymnasium and provision for a temporary gym structure during construction, design and installation of all AV systems, LEED documentation, and comprehensive interior design including selection of all furniture and procurement.

CTA coordinated the LEED credit requirements through the design and construction phases of the project, which involved intensive coordination with the owner, contractor, various subcontractors, and the design team. The project was awarded 59 points and achieved LEED BD+C Silver certification. Among the notable sustainable aspects of the project was a 35% reduction in energy use, and a 25% reduction in energy cost thanks to a highly efficient ground source heat pump central plant, efficient lighting, and a high performing building envelope. Waste reduction — including waste prevention, recovered materials, recycling, composting, and energy recovery — exceeded requirements.

CTA was responsible for all disciplines and specifically provided project management, architecture, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, fire protection engineering, communications/data design (RCDD), and comprehensive interior design (CID), as well as construction phase support, which included the review and approval of submittals, inspection of construction, and review and production of commissioning plans and reports.
